Wendy Axelrod's abiding interest in developing the 'people side' of the organization to match and even spur organization aspirations has ben consistent for over 25 years. Her spirited and results-driven approach to collaborating with Line Executives and Human Resources Leaders has helped her clients bring about growth for their leaders, workforce, and businesses.
Wendy's own development of strategic focus, organizational development capabilities, and leadership development skill were cultivated through connections with a capable cadre of managers, colleagues, and employees, during her 16 years wit Sunoco. As an HR Executive, she transformed the Corporate University to distinctively advance the company's business objectives, led the Talent Management function to create a competitive leadership pipeline, and served as chief architect to ensure a highly successful multi-year culture transformation.
Currently President of Axelrod Associates, Wendy along with Jeannie Coyle, is also co-founder of Talent Savvy Manager. She has collaborated with management in dozens of organizations to develop their organization, their leaders, and their workforce. She has led efforts such as: designing a robust and adaptive corporate university, bringing about cultural transformation to align organization practices with company goals, and assessing Talent Management System and formulating a long term Talent Management strategy. She serves as a designer and facilitator of cutting edge Leadership Development and as an Executive Coach. In her decade-long association with the Forum Corporation, as a facilitator and executive coach, she has been their annual North American ResNet recipient of the Award of Excellence. Some of her clients have included: Deloitte, Novo Nordisk, Shire, Duke Energy, American Family Insurance, Northrop Grumman, Vanguard, Occidental, Sanofi, and Merck. As reflected in the book, Make Talent Your Business, her years of experience have settled squarely on helping managers and leaders become exceptional developers of others.
Wendy's volunteer leadership with professional associations and non-profits has been wonderfully developmental for her as well, and helped form a strong values orientation which she brings to her entire life. As long time board member and former President of the Philadelphia Affiliate of Human Resource People and Strategy organization, Wendy has been one of two individuals to receive their Life Time Achievement Award (relatively early in her career!). The 'best practices' Mentoring Program she launched and leads has received wide attention. Wendy also supports University of Pennsylvania Wharton's School Global Consulting Practicum as member of the Devil's Advocate panel. She has served on several nonprofit boards, and speaks at Professional Association meetings and conferences.
Her undergraduate degree was received from Drexel University where she was awarded the M.M. Creese Scholarship and Award for Outstanding Senior Woman of the University. Wendy's graduate degrees, culminating with a Ph.D. in Organization Psychology, are from Colorado State University. She is licensed in many leadership development tools.
Wendy has two sons, three step children and enjoys life just outside Philadelphia with her husband Andy.
