Tapping Into the Source
Celebrated Author of Synchronicity Joseph Jaworski Explores the Origins of Profound Innovation and Discovery
San Francisco, CA – Institutions of all sorts are facing unprecedented challenges, with complexity increasing at a speed and intensity never experienced before. In SOURCE: THE INNER PATH OF KNOWLEDGE CREATION (Berrett-Koehler; $26.95; hardcover; January 2012) Jaworski, one of the nation’s top experts on transformational leadership, explores the practices that allow leaders and groups to gain access to what he calls the “Source.” A follow up to his international best seller, Synchronicity (Berrett-Koehler, 1996), SOURCE takes up right where his first book left off as Jaworski tells the story of his and his colleagues’ discovery of the ultimate Source of visionary leadership, transformation, and breakthrough innovation.
Jaworski describes an advanced version of the U-Process, Generative Discovery, which enables leaders to get in touch with the Source. The essence of the discovery lies in being open to alternative worldviews, operating from a stance of human possibility, and tapping into the generative orders of the universe.
Ultimately, Jaworski develops four guiding principles that encompass the nature of the Source and what great leaders need to do to stay in dynamic dialogue with it. Knowledge gained through access to the Source is, in the words of one cognitive scientist Jaworski met, “shockingly effective.” It has a transformative impact on every aspect of leadership with the capacity to bring forth new realities, which is what the best leadership does.
About the Author
Joseph Jaworski is a founder and the chairman of both Generon International and the Global Leadership Initiative and is the founder of the American Leadership Forum, an NGO responsible for developing the practice of collaborative leadership. He has led the Royal Dutch/Shell Group’s renowned team of scenario planners, served as senior fellow and board member for the MIT Center for Organizational Learning, and cofounded the Society for Organizational Learning. He is also a co-author of Presence.
