Self-Assessment Information for Authors
IS THIS PRODUCT RIGHT FOR YOU?
- If your book teaches a specific skill, and/or you already have a quiz in the book to measure a skill, the self-assessment is a great choice for you.
- If a self-assessment would be a great tool for your consulting practice, you can benefit from selling it right along with your book!
DEADLINE
- Not long after Author Day: You will need to add all the “preliminary information” listed below to your final manuscript. This way, the print book does a good job pitching your self-assessment.
- Two months before Pub Date: You will need to submit the rest of your inputs, listed below. (If you can submit any of these earlier, it gives us more time to critique and improve them!)

- Decide on a url for your self assessment, aka: http://bkconnection.com/NAME-sa (the –sa stands for self-assessment)

Question Information
- Provide questions and answers: Berrett-Koehler assessments are typically 20-30 questions, although longer assessments are also possible with a higher price point.
- You will need to provide information on the scoring method for the questions (Example: 50-40 questions right = EXCELLENT, 40=30 questions right = GOOD, or any other scoring method you would like to use.)
- You will need to decide what type of graphic is best suited for displaying your test results.
Supplemental Text
- An Author's Welcome Statement that summarizes the value and use of the self-assessment, and explains how this is linked to your book.
- You will submit a Frequently Asked Questions section for the self-assessment, to cover all the questions people are likely to have.
- You will submit an Author's Closing Statement for the client to read after seeing their results. It will help them make sense of what their results mean.

BUDGET & CONTRACT
A one-page agreement will govern the self-assessment product: click here to see agreement. You will receive the same royalty on the self-assessment that you would on an e-book, or other digital product.
PRICING
$9.99 for a 20-30 question self-assessment (our standard length.) If you wish to write a longer assessment, it might be $14.99 or $19.99.
OUTCOMES
If you make the self-assessment part of your consulting practice, it is guaranteed to receive steady sales. If people need to pass the self-assessment to be certified in a skill, all the better. However, we haven’t had much success yet in marketing the self-assessment to the general consumer market. We hope to get better at that in the future.
